RORO Shipping (Roll-On/Roll-Off):
Because of its ease of use and widespread appeal, RORO Shipping (Roll on/roll off) is the recommended technique for car transportation. Monthly sailing is available from Bristol port, providing easy access. The loading procedure is simple: cars are loaded into a specially built ship, safely fastened down on one of the several decks for car storage, and ready for travel. Cars are simply driven off the vessel upon arrival at Dar es Salaam. Once a month, trips from Bristol are made, guaranteeing punctual arrivals. Usually, the travel takes about 47 days.
Container Shipping
For increased security, you can also choose container shipping. We offer either 20’, 40’ or 40’HC along with Flat Rack container services for truck heads or trucks measuring up to 11.60mtrs long, 2.50mtrs wide and no more than 3.95mtrs high. Our Standard container shipping services loads at Tilbury whereas our Flat Rack Service loads at Felixstowe to Dar es Salaam. All vehicles are secured using ratchet straps around all wheels to ensure optimum safety whilst in transit.
Conformity with EAA Inspection
Following EAA inspection guidelines is essential for cars that are going to stay in Tanzania and not travel abroad. Obtaining an EAA inspection is required before shipping your car from the UK. Tilbury is a convenient location to schedule this examination. Alternatively, for even greater convenience, an inspector can be sent to any place in the United Kingdom; however, this will incur an additional fee. The EAA inspection is not required if vehicles are not staying within Tanzania.
Increased Selection of Vehicles
Our services cover a wide range of transportation needs and go beyond regular cars. We are experts at transporting a broad variety of vehicles, including trucks, RVs, caravans, vans and regular saloons and 4x4s. Please get in contact if you have any questions about whether your car qualifies for export. Our staff is on hand to answer any questions and guarantee a seamless delivery process.
Qualifications for Imports
The following prerequisites must be met to import a car into Tanzania:
- The vehicle must be in good operating order and possess a current domestic registration document.
- Third-party liability insurance is required for the vehicle.
- Value-added tax (VAT), excise duty, and import duty are all payable by the importer.
Import Duty
The import tariffs for cars from outside Tanzania are governed by stringent regulations. How much tax you have to pay is determined by looking at the car's engine size. Bringing a vehicle into Tanzania and the cost of doing so can vary significantly depending on these levies. To illustrate:
- 50% of the dutiable value is the total tax for cars with engines smaller than 2000cc, which is composed of a 25% import duty and a 20% value-added tax.
- All in all, 65% of the dutiable value is imposed on vehicles with engines larger than 2000cc through import duties of 25%, excise duties of 10%, and VAT of 20%.
- Commercial vehicles, including passenger vans, pickup trucks, lorries, and buses, are subject to a 20% VAT and 15% import charge, which equals 32% of the dutiable value.
Excise Tax
Excise duty is a type of tax charged by the government on specific items, such as automobiles, regardless of their origin. The size of the engine determines the tax rate for automobiles:
- There is no excise duty if the engine is under 1000cc.
- The excise duty is five percent if the engine is between a thousand and two thousand cc.
- Additionally, 10% tax is applied to engines larger than 2000cc.
Age Restriction
Tanzania has greater latitude in this regard than other locations with rigid age restrictions. Cars that fall within a 10-year age range can be imported into Tanzania without facing many significant limitations, according to their auto import regulation. However, importers need to be aware that if a vehicle is older than ten years, more taxes and customs will be applied upon import, which will raise the final cost.
